Ambassal 11:51
When I love you, my love is not like others’ Even I don’t have a word to explain my love You are my everything Your kindness, smile, love Your honesty is the medicine for my sickness and the bright light of my life Life without you is full of darkness and like a fish out of sea. You are the star in my heart Always I wish you to be there.
2.
Sindayo 09:00
Sindayo is a very beautiful girl She has great respect to her culture, elders, history and identity When she wears the cultural clothes and traditional ornaments and the traditional hairstyle, she attracts everyone and most of the youngsters are attracted to her and everyone tries hard to be her lover. The people of Tigray are very kind, hardworking heroes. They have a great respect for their culture, their elders, their heritage and their history. They bring up their children to be good citizens, like Sindayo. During the challenging times even if they have different views, they become united. During the happy times they share their happiness.

Ruhus Gama 04:37
I wish a good marriage for the bride and the groom. I wish your marriage to mix like water and milk I wish your life to be full of love, peace, and health, and to have children like the marriage of Abraham and Sarah, to be blessed by God, to tackle any challenge together, and to be successful in your lives. And I wish you the best for the rest of your lives.
4.
Kabsamai 05:35
Whether you are on earth, the ocean, or in the sky, I wish you all the best things in your life. Wherever you are, I wish all the best things in your life. Amira [the name of a girl], she’s a very beautiful girl with long hair and a beautiful physique. She was born in Mendefera and grew up in Asmara. I saw her before, but I haven’t seen her for a while. She makes me yearn. Even there are challenges, ups and downs in finding you, and I heard some rumours from the people about you. I never listened to them. I always love you. I hope we will overcome the challenging times. One day there will be a chance to be together.

Alena 05:10
Alena, how did you forget our love, the happy memories that are unforgettable? Our love started during our childhood. Do you remember when we were making a pot from mud? When we were building a house from tree branches? When we were swimming on the lakes? When we played on the grass with the beautiful flowers? And when we went to school? Our friendship was like a model for others, but - Oh Time! Oh Time! Oh Time! You are the boss of everything – you leave unforgettable memories. A lot of people are worried because of you! Oh Time, Oh Time! Unexpectedly we were separated because of the war. There was a bombardment in the city, a big shaking, and life is separated in every direction. I never expected such a thing to happen. Alena, always you are in my heart. I waited a long time to be reunited. Even I heard a lot of rumours about you, and at last, I started a new life and married another woman. I will never forget the happy memories of the past. I wish one day to see you again and I wish you the best in your life.

about

Anbessa Gebrehiwot and Haftu Reda are masterful players of krar and masinko, traditional string instruments from Eritrea and Ethiopia. Now based in Melbourne, Australia, the pair collaborate with producer and multi-instrumentalist Dale Gorfinkel to create an innovative sound that celebrates their East African culture. The five recordings collected here range from modern takes on folk songs to new, original compositions, with Anbessa’s strong vocal presence a perfect match to Haftu’s sweet lyrical modesty.
